The present work had as objective describes extension activities developed by the
project teacher and six students of chemistry course, entitled: Chemistry contains? The
activity was applied with 17 high school students from the Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva,
at State School of municipality Carmolândia of Tocantins state, 31 km from the
municipality of Araguaína. The extension project was developed following the steps;
invite the students visit the university; show the environments used by the chemistry
course; present a small lecture, maked simple experiments in the laboratory and apply a
questionnaire to evaluate students' learning from the applied methodology. the
objectives from of project was show the university, explaining its structure and
demonstrated the working environment of degree chemistry course, for this initially the
students visited the institutional unit accompanied by the project leaders, during the
visitation students had access to the classroom, library, canteen, laboratory, living area,
among others. It was verified that students of High School were able to assimilate the
content of Chemistry when it was exposed in a contextualized way, since the practical
classes aroused the curiosity and interest of students regarding the content exposed in a
practical way, it was observed that they presented interest in joining the institution.
