The photovoltaic solar system is a promising technology that has been constantly growing
throughout the national scenario. It is a source of alternative, renewable, clean, and
sustainable energy, generating electricity by direct conversion of solar radiation. This research
aimed to evaluate the dimensioning of photovoltaic solar system for commercial customers
and having as specific objectives to describe what happens due to the lack of technical
knowledge (know-how) in the implantation of photovoltaic systems for commercial
customers, to report the norms that govern the professionals who work in photovoltaic solar
installations and identify the appropriate sizing of the established power of photovoltaic solar
panels for commercial customers. The research method used was a case study in a company in
the city of Araguaína, Tocantins. The research approach is qualitative, of applied nature and,
in terms of objectives, it is exploratory. The study sought to analyze the best projection for the
installation of photovoltaic solar systems, calling into question the main factors considered in
the project, such as solar radiation, roof angle, roof type, incidence of shadows, among other
factors. It was also presented what can happen when the project is not elaborated following
the technical norms and the best engineering practices. The results of the study show that the
implementation of photovoltaic systems is a great alternative for consumers if the appropriate
sizing is done for the chosen location
