The situation experienced by women fishermen from riverside communities is
characterized by struggles, challenges and different constructions about the social
roles attributed to men and women. The objective of this study seeks to understand
how fisherwomen in the municipality of Tocantinópolis-TO live, showing the
difficulties faced daily in the fishing activity, and how relationships and
understandings regarding "gender roles" within the fishing community take place.
For the analyzes, Women's History and Cultural History are used as a theoretical
contribution. The methodology used is qualitative, with thematic Oral History. Due
to the pandemic context generated by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the interviews with
the three fisherwomen participating in the research were carried out through the
digital platform Google Meet. The interviews were recorded and the ter The transfer
of rights over oral testimony was recorded at the beginning and end of the interviews.
The criterion for choosing the interviewees was based on indications and the
availability and interest of the fisherwomen in participating in the study. With the
study, it was possible to know the day-to-day fishing, the ways of learning the trade,
the links with the Colony of Fishermen of Tocantinópolis Z-7, the impacts of the
construction of the Estreito-MA dam on the flow of the waters of the River Tocantins,
the different meanings of Rio in their lives, among other issues. |
