In this work we intend to answer the following guiding question: how to insert chess in a community in the southern sector? Thus, a field research was carried out in the city of Araguaia in the state of Tocantins, with a group of children from the community of the South Sector neighborhood, in which the evolution of each child with the practice of chess was observed, with the help of theoretical materials and concrete for application of the game. This project was developed with the main objective of exploring this pedagogical resource, helping and stimulating learning with the benefits that chess allows. As a result of research, chess was a great pedagogical tool that made it possible to achieve the objectives proposed in the work, stimulating children's interest in the design and construction of knowledge and learning about chess
