The present article, which has as its theme: Chess as a Tool of Methodological
Transformation in the Prison System, arose from the need to investigate the benefits that this
game can offer to people deprived of freedom, starting from the premise that chess develops
cognitive aspects. , in those who develop the practice of the game. Thus, to meet the proposed
objectives, we opted for a bibliographic, documentary and field research, with the perspective
of understanding this practice through the Chess Game Sports Practice Project as a means of
Penalty Removal, thus concluding that Chess develops various skills in the educational,
intellectual, behavioral and social fields, increasing the possibility of the subject rethinking
his actions and making decisions that will culminate in a good return to reintegration into
society
