Resumo:
This work addresses the initial training of graduates in biology on environmental education. Since the environmental crisis has been discussed by various sectors seeking improvement with regard to environmental care and preservation, it sought to analyze how the Federal University of Tocantins-UFT has addressed the theme Environmental Education in the Degree in Biological Sciences EAD. In order to achieve the proposed objective, a qualitative research was chosen with questionnaires for data collection. Having a bibliographic review as the basis of the proposed discussion and analysis of the collected data. The authors used for the contribution were: Carvalho (1998), Castro (2001) and Ramos (1996), among others. The research was carried out in the city of Arraias, State of Tocantins - TO with five teachers who studied at UFT and currently work in the public school system. In view of the proposed discussions, it was possible to verify that the initial training alone is not capable of preparing the licensed teacher in biology to work efficiently on the topic of Environmental Education, however the university has qualified this professional so that he can improve during his lifetime. academic trajectory and after the completion of the course, sensitizing the graduates to understand that learning is never something ready and finished and improvement is necessary so that they can offer quality education to their students.
