This work has as main objective to analyze the impacts and the difficulties encountered by
people who are located the banks of the North-South railway in the city of Babaçulândia-
TO. Throughout the text here discoursed, the impacts caused by the project are pointed out
in their territorial dimension and addressed the use of the territory and the occupation of
space by the railway, altering the shape of babaçulandense territory. In this regard, it should
also be noted that developments like this are deployed in the country seeking new economic
challenges of Brazil in the twenty-first century, and the railroad comes as cargo
transportation alternative of large soybean producers. A point here emphasized is that the
territorial space of Tocantins and Babaçulândia is used as a national integration link faster
and cheaper transport, given that there are interconnections between the port of Itagui in São
Luis do Maranhão and the port of Santos in Sao Paul, particularly in view of the
consolidation of multimodal transport. |
