A major problem affecting the environment are caused fires in urban areas today.
The high generation of waste from the households entails a very ancient cultural
practice, but widely used, is that the burning household waste. Observing this
situation and seeing that the city of Araguaína-TO practice is often used, appeared
intended to show through a sector, the reality of many others who face similar
problems. The researched sector was the park Healing, which borders with Barros
and Maracanã sectors. Surveys were conducted in the field, photographic register,
interviews and questionnaires with residents and analysis of some authors that
address the issue of environmental education. In field visits became apparent lack of
awareness of local residents, and found a high rate of people setting fire to garbage
and vacant lots with antlers remains. So even the industry relying on garbage
collection three times a week, where you can make the collection of all the material
generated in their homes and contribute to non-proliferation of diseases caused by
the accumulation of garbage, for example dengue, zika virus, kala azar, and many
other diseases. Yet it is extremely important to study here performed with the profile
and the opinion of some residents, where one has the results identifying the lack of
campaigns to intensify environmental education into the mainstream of society.
