Resumo:
The disorderly development of the city of Araguaína-TO has triggered a process of occupation of areas around the city, generating conflicts and leading a population to appropriate illegal areas to the environment. The urban development that occurred through the BR-153 leveraged its growth and development, forming one of the largest cities in the state of Tocantins, with expansion and appreciation of the land, as less favored classes, because they could not reside in the nearby neighborhoods, Or Either illegally occupy or receive donations of land in precarious and remote areas far from the urban center of Araguaína, seeking a place to live. The methodological procedure used in this work, data collection, field surveys, photographs, bibliographic review in several authors and interviews allows analyzing the social inequality that a population of this area faces and faces until today. Analyzing the available resources for this area, basic sanitation, garbage collection, lack of sanitary sewers, damage caused by force, burning trash or irregular disposal, problems caused by the population of the sector. Based on the data obtained and reported in the context of the text, there is a lack of attention to the environment, the negligence of the public power with the residents, the burning of garbage and the irregular disposition. In this way, environmental education is indispensable inside and outside schools, and a weight of the public power to control and make resources available to the population.
