The conservative current that has occupied and has been taking strength in the national political scenario calls usto reflect on the discussions that are established against the reformist positions, representing an attempt to consolidate policies centered on the mercantilization of health through private initiative. The present work is composed, first of a brief historical review of the counter-reform movements, highlighting their flirtation with conservative political agendas. Next, an analysis of the dismantling processes suffered by RP is made through an awareness of the nefarious strategies of regulation of mental health policies, highlighting the strategy of commodification of mental health through Therapeutic Communities (TCs). The research of bibliographic review of qualitative character, carried out through documental means, selected the material for analysis available in the official sites of public management organs linked to the theme. The analysis of the research inputs was carried out through selected publications on the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) platforms. It concludes with a reflection on the already evident damages and those that may still occur, having as its axis the fundamental role of resistance in the face of the listed problems. O presente trabalho se qualifica na reflexão teórica e de revisão dos acontecimentos que marcam o crescente movimento de contrarreforma psiquiátrica em andamento no Brasil, dando destaque ao papel desempenhado pelas Comunidades Terapêuticas aos fatos em discussão. A corrente conservadora que ocupou e tem tomado força no cenário político nacional nos convoca a refletir sobre as discussões que se estabelecem contrárias aos posicionamentos reformistas, representando uma tentativa de consolidação de políticas centradas na mercantilização da saúde por meio da iniciativa privada. O presente trabalho é composto, primeiramente, por um breve resgate histórico dos movimentos contra-reformistas, evidenciando o flerte deste com pautas políticas conservadoras. Em seguida é feita uma análise dos processos de desmonte sofridos pela RP através de uma sensibilização diante das estratégias nefastas de regulação das políticas de saúde mental, destacando-se a estratégia de mercantilização da saúde mental por meio das Comunidades Terapêuticas (CTs). A pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica de caráter qualitativa, realizada por meio documental, selecionou o material de análise disponível nos sites oficiais de órgãos da gestão pública ligados ao tema. A análise dos insumos da pesquisa foi realizada através de publicações selecionadas nas plataformas da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e da Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO).
