People who often worked with math used this method to quickly check their calculations. At the end of the twentieth century with the evolution of technology and the emergence of other methods of verication, the nines out was no longer presented in textbooks, and thus gradually ceased to be presented in the classroom, but only as a social context. The rst records about nines abroad were in the ninth century in Arabic arithmetic, being traversed throughout Europe, until reaching the Brazilian textbooks. Understanding the math that is involved in this method helps us understand why it is no longer used in textbooks and so at school. Nines out is the rest of dividing a number by 9, being in the range of 0, ..., 8, another way to nd nines out of a number is by adding all its digits and dividing it by 9. This method has aws, so it is one of the reasons that is no longer seen in textbooks and consequently in schools, being only in the social context. A prova dos noves ou mais conhecida popularmente como noves fora é um método que foi bastante utilizado no século passado, sendo encontrado em livros didáticos e tabuadas. Pessoas que trabalhavam frequentemente com matemática exercia deste método para vericação rápida de seus cálculos. Ao nal do século XX com a evolução da tecnologia e o surgimento de outros métodos de vericação, o noves fora não foi mais apresentado nos livros didáticos, e assim aos poucos deixado de ser apresentado em sala de aula, cando apenas como um contexto social. Os primeiros registros sobre o noves fora foi no século IX na aritmética árabe, sendo percorrida por toda Europa, até chegar nos livros didáticos brasileiros. Entender a matemática que está envolvida neste método ajuda-nos a ter compreensão do motivo de não ser mais utilizado nos livros didáticos e assim na escola. O noves fora é o resto da divisão de um número por 9, cando no intervalo de {0, . . . , 8}, outra forma de encontrar o noves fora é somando todos seus algarismos de um número e dividi-lo por 9.
