The curricular supervised internship was carried out in two distinct universities,
in the field of Clinic and Surgery of Large Animals, totalizing 600 hours of
workload. In the period from May 18th to July 31st, 2015, the stage was carried
out at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Viçosa, campus of
Viçosa, state of Minas Gerais, and from August 3rd to 28th, 2015, at the
Veterinary Hospital of the Veterinary School and Animal Science of the Federal
University of Goiás, campus of Samambaia, city of Goiânia, state of Goiás.
Throughout the internship period many activities were carried out, such as
attendance of clinical cases and surgeries in the veterinary hospitals from the
universities and also external assistance in the farms from the regions. This
report describes and discusses a clinical case of colic in a horse secondary to
compression, approaching the possible complications of this disease and its
treatment.
