With a new scenario, in which women start to work in the labor market but have their presence removed in high-ranking positions, even though they are qualified and gender equality is preserved in the constitutional text in all areas, this article aims to describe the glass ceiling phenomenon and its impacts on women’s careers, as well as the existence and development of policies in the public-private sector capable of promoting gender equality in the labor market in the national and international context. It uses a bibliographical, documentary, and legislative survey, with emphasis on journal articles and books on the subject, to understand the glass ceiling phenomenon and the existing and applied policies. In the results, it`s observed that despite legislative advances in general rules on the subject, in Brazil, gender inequality in the labor market persists, facing human and fundamental rights, and perpetuating the glass ceiling, due to the absence of public measures to promote gender equality that provide equal opportunities for men and women. |
