The supervised curricular stage was carried out at the Animal Reproduction
Biotechnology Laboratory (LBRA), located at the Agricultural Sciences Center (CCA)
of the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), Petrônio Portela Campus, Teresina-PI, in
the period of March 14 On May 31, 2017, in the areas of Reproduction and
Biotechnologies of Animal Reproduction, totaling 432 hours under the guidance of
Profa. Dr. Francisca Elda Ferreira Dias and supervision of Prof. Dr. José Adalmir
Torres de Souza. During this period numerous activities related to animal reproduction
and reproduction biotechnologies were developed. The LBRA working group has as
main research line the development of cryoprotectants and antioxidants, aiming at the
cryopreservation of semen of ruminants. In this way, the activities performed during
the internship were to accompany Resident Veterinarians and Postgraduates of the
Animal Science PPG. The activities were developed in the LBRA and in rural
properties located in the region of Teresina-PI and municipalities of Maranhão. The
emphasis of the activities was on the male reproductive management, such as:
andrological examination, seminal collection and evaluation, seminal diluents,
cryopreservation of bovine and goat semen, as well as fixed-time artificial
insemination in goats and gestation diagnosis, which will be described More detailed
and referenced in this report.
