The curricular internship was carried out under the supervision of the professional
Veterinarian Gervazio Quintanilha Failde de Azevedo, who provides services in the
area of Animal Production and Reproduction, and under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Jorge
Luís Ferreira. The internship was carried out in the period from August 2 to October
31, 2017, totaling 390 hours. The activities were carried out in the areas of breeding,
genetic improvement and animal production, in beef cattle in properties of the region
of Araguaína, TO, and States of Pará and Maranhão. Among these activities are those
related to the implantation of reproductive programs in the property through the
mountaineering station, the choice of bulls that participate in breeding programs, based
on the analysis and interpretation of the DEPs, crossing programs, economic analysis
of the properties, Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (IATF), diagnosis of pregnancies
by rectal palpation or ultrasonography, Gynecologic examinations in heifers, selection
of matrices and bulls. The curricular internship allowed the integration and
complementation of the theoretical contents acquired in the academy with the practice,
allowing a more integrated training of the veterinary medical professional.
