This dissertation entitled “Study of cultural actions foreseen in PROCAMBIX for the Akwẽ/Xerente indigenous people from 2002 to 2009” aims to analyze the goals of the Xerente Indigenous Environmental Compensation Program in terms of culture to point out the effectiveness or not of the actions cultural activities planned with the aim of mitigating the cultural impacts on the Akwẽ/Xerente indigenous people and, finally, reflecting on this program that permeates the culture of the Xerente people. Among others, the goals related to the construction of the Casa da Cultura Xerente, the training of teachers and Xerente leaders are analyzed, as well as investigating how the program could finally collaborate in safeguarding the Akwẽ culture. The Xerente Indigenous Environmental Compensation Program, also called PROCAMBIX, was carried out between 2002 and 2009 after an Ethno-environmental diagnosis that pointed out the damage to indigenous lands and culture caused by the construction of the Luiz Eduardo Magalhães Hydroelectric Power Plant, known as UHE Lajeado. Located in the city of Lajeado -TO, where its dam reaches some neighboring municipalities such as Miracema do Tocantins and Tocantínia, thus including the Xerente and Funil indigenous lands. In this sense, this dissertation is qualitative in nature, based on the method of oral history in the perspective of cultural history. Some documents from the Casa de Cultura Xerente were analyzed, such as the initial PROCAMBIX project and the final results report, in addition to articles and images and oral interviews carried out by digital platforms with indigenous and non-indigenous people for this dissertation. As a result of the research, we obtained important information that point out that the compensation program did not reach 100% of its planned goals, there were large bureaucracies in the development of actions and the duration of the program was questioned and proved to be insufficient. As for the collaboration of PROCAMBIX to safeguard the Akwẽ/Xerente culture, it cannot be said that the program safeguarded the culture itself, however, it was noted that the program exerted an incentive during its execution from the allocated financial resources, which in turn allowed for events to be held. and their records in CD and DVD images and thus made it possible to archive these cultural moments in the form of historical collections of the Akwẽ/Xerente indigenous people.
