The National Common Curricular Base contributes to the new structure of secondary education, which has as its components the formative itinerary and elective disciplines. The present work observes the construction and methodological development in the teaching learning process of the elective curricular component in the area of natural sciences and its technologies applied to High School in a state school in the city of Araguaína-TO, which was developed from a project- based teaching, students' development was monitored using an observation form during the presentations given, since the methodological process involved rotation by station where the formed groups were taken to present themselves three times. As such, it can monitor the development of students in relation to teaching learning and scientific literacy. It was observed that, teaching through projects as an active methodology used in this elective, contributes to the construction of knowledge, and through the stimulation of student involvement in challenges and tasks. It was also found that the students were able to create their own ideas and build knowledge through their research, therefore obtaining a teaching with the characteristic of learning with scientific literacy, since, during the elective process, a significant increase in the number of technical vocabulary used during the presentations of these groups is noticed, some even manage to suggest solutions for the problems analyzed in their research.
