The context of the work is the Kalunga Community of Vai de Almas - GO. The interest in the study arose from reflection on this tradition, in view of the researcher's experience as a member of the community. The research methodology is based on ethnography, using observation, field research, interviews and a workshop aimed at elementary school students. The research highlights the relevance of the knowledge present in the quilombola tradition and its role in strengthening the local cultural identity. A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo descrever os saberes tradicionais presentes na tradição do benzimento, prática cotidiana e presente nos ritos religiosos dos Kalunga. O contexto do trabalho é a Comunidade Kalunga do Vão de Almas – GO. O interesse pelo estudo surgiu da reflexão sobre essa tradição, tendo em vista a vivência da pesquisadora como integrante da comunidade. A metodologia da pesquisa é de base etnográfica, servindo-se da observação, da pesquisa de campo, de entrevistas e da realização de uma oficina voltada a estudantes do ensino fundamental.
