The supervised curricular internship is the last step of the veterinary medicine student towards
the dreamed diploma to officially become a veterinarian. At this stage, the student has the
opportunity to experience the practice in the main area of choice in the future profession. The
supervised curricular internship was carried out at the Veterinary Hospital of the School of
Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Federal University of Goiás (HV/EVZ/UFG),
from August 7th to October 20 th , 2023, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 12pm and from
2pm to 6pm under the supervision of the Veterinarian, Doctor Filipe Augusto Sales Gomes and
guidance from Doctor Teacher Andréa Cintra Bastos Torres Passos. The location was chosen
based on the reference of the veterinary hospital in the region, the structure and the specialties
and professionals who serve in the clinical routine. The present work aims to report the
experience in the routine of HV/EVZ/UFG in the areas of medical and surgical clinic for small
animals, describing the location, the activities carried out and the hospital case series and,
reporting a case followed in the routine of the medical clinic, in which a patient aged 1 year and
6 months, female, Shih-tzu, weighing 4.6kg, arrived at the hospital with a history of acute pain,
tearing and blepharospasms in the left eye, and was diagnosed with ulcerative keratitis
associated with bilateral distichiasis. |
