This report describes the supervised curricular internship of the Veterinary Medicine course at the UFNT of the student Jheferson Jardim Araújo, carried out at the Hospital Veterinário Mundo dos Bichos in Araguaína, Tocantins, supervised by the veterinarian Ronaira Assunção da Silva. This was directed to the areas of Medical Clinic and Surgical Clinic of Dogs and Cats and occurred during the period from March 13 to May 24, 2023, with a daily workload of 08 hours, making 40 hours a week, totaling 390 hours, where several specialties were monitored, such as internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, physiatry, anesthesiology, cardiology, dentistry, radiology, ultrasound and ophthalmology, and hospital internment of small animals. In addition, it has a case report on the successful removal of gastric foreign bodies in a Shih Tzu puppy. After physical examination and complementary tests, the presence of foreign bodies was confirmed and followed by endoscopy. The chosen procedure ensured the complete removal of the identified objects, including a sock, cotton balls, thread and leaves, which could result in obstruction of the digestive tract and serious complications. After the intervention, the pup received the appropriate post-operative care, including medication and rest to aid recovery. Close veterinary follow-up and adherence to the guidelines provided were crucial to ensuring a smooth recovery. This case underscores the importance of prompt intervention and accurate diagnosis to preserve the health and well-being of pets.
