Resumo:
This work discusses early childhood education policies at national and local levels. Its main objective is to understand how care for children aged 0 to 6 years is constituted in the municipality of Miracema do Tocantins. It starts from a historical analysis of the construction of concepts and practices regarding the care of young children in educational institutions. Care for children aged 0 to 6 in daycare centers and preschools is a child's right guaranteed by legislation. However, early childhood education has been facing many challenges in the quest to guarantee its effectiveness and compliance with current legislation. Issues relating to the quality of physical space, teacher training, pedagogical proposals, financing, among others, still constitute challenges for the area of early childhood education. To achieve the proposed objectives, bibliographical research and field research were carried out, using the interview as an instrument to obtain data. The main authors who theoretically supported the work were: Oliveira (2002), Kramer (1992), Craidy (2004).
