We sought to understand, beyond biology and nature, social, cultural and demographic aspects related to this topic and this social process based on studies in the human and social sciences. The methodology adopted, of a qualitative nature, involved bibliographical research on the topic addressed. In the end, it is considered that leisure policy and old age require that they be understood as rights, whose experiences are not universal and homogeneous according to various social belongings (class, gender, ethnicity). Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso propõe-se analisar o tema do lazer a partir da perspectiva do envelhecimento, trazendo reflexões sobre as categorias de idade, sua construção social, o processo de envelhecimento populacional, apontado como tendência mundial devido ao aumento constante nas últimas décadas, em âmbito nacional e internacional, da parcela da população com idade igual ou superior a sessenta anos e o direito ao lazer para melhor qualidade de vida da pessoa idosa. Buscou-se compreender, para além da biologia e da natureza, aspectos sociais, culturais e demográficos relacionados a esse tema e a esse processo social com base em estudos das ciências humanas e sociais. A metodologia adotada, de natureza qualitativa, envolveu pesquisa bibliográfica sobre o tema abordado.
