All over the world there are a high number of people who lose their lives due to drowning. The literature shows that prevention is the best strategy, as well as teaching aquatic skills and awareness about the risk of drowning tend to reduce cases. With this, the role of the Physical Education teacher can be highlighted, especially those who teach swimming. Therefore, the objective of this work will be to produce knowledge about aquatic skills and drowning prevention in the Sports/Swimming discipline that will serve as a basis for the work of teachers in full-time schools in the municipality of Palmas/Tocantins. The methodology used was qualitative, with bibliographical and field research. Data collection was based on a semi- structured questionnaire and the material was analyzed using Discursive Textual Analysis. Data collection was carried out in the months of September and October 2023 with twelve (12) teachers from the Palmas municipal network who met the research inclusion and exclusion criteria. From the results, 3 articles were produced. In the first with the title “Teaching-learning process of children's swimming on the themes of aquatic competence and drowning prevention: a literature review” it was possible to understand other studies on the subject through a bibliographical survey. In the second article, “How teachers in full-time schools address aquatic competence and attitudes towards preventing drowning in their swimming classes” it was possible to analyze how professionals address these topics in their classes. In the third, entitled “Aquatic competence and the prevention of drowning: teaching material aimed at swimming teachers”, the aim was to present the professionals' thoughts on the creation of teaching material and, shortly after, a proposal for a digital booklet with practices was created. of teaching for teachers to develop students' autonomy and for them to experiment and create possibilities in their relationship with the liquid medium. The professional master's degree is a type of professional and continuing training aimed at Education professionals, creating conditions for them to think and act in order to build knowledge that helps and leads to the improvement of educational systems and processes. This master's degree suggests that the student carries out research related to their pedagogical practices and produces an educational resource linked to these practices. Finally, it was understood that through this study, the teachers participating in the research point out that professional training was not sufficient for the beginning of teaching practice and understand that continued training and reflective practice are fundamental for change and a consequent improvement in professional performance. Based on the teachers' reports, it is clear how necessary it is to create educational material for teaching aquatic skills with a focus on preventing drowning.
