The research is framed within the context of Basic Education, as established by the National Education Guidelines and Framework Law (LDB), and seeks to explore how pedagogical practices, especially positive reinforcement, can contribute to student motivation and engagement, promoting their school retention and success. The methodology employed involved a qualitative analysis of teaching strategies, based on a literature review and case studies documented in different educational contexts. The main results indicate that the effective use of positive reinforcement, combined with inclusive practices, not only enhances cognitive learning but also fosters social integration and the emotional development of students. The study highlights the importance of motivational strategies and the internalization of values in enhancing pedagogical practices, suggesting further research to promote the holistic development of students. Este trabalho aborda a importância do reforçamento positivo no processo de ensino-aprendizagem no Ensino Fundamental II e no Ensino Médio, com foco no desenvolvimento de competências emocionais e sociais de crianças e adolescentes. A pesquisa se insere no contexto da Educação Básica, conforme estabelecido pela Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional (LDB), e busca explorar como práticas pedagógicas, especialmente o reforço positivo, podem contribuir para a motivação e o engajamento dos alunos, contribuindo para sua permanência e sucesso escolar. A metodologia adotada envolveu uma análise qualitativa das estratégias de ensino, baseada em revisão bibliográfica. Os principais resultados indicam que o uso eficaz do reforçamento positivo, aliado a práticas inclusivas, favorece não apenas a aprendizagem cognitiva, mas também a integração social e o desenvolvimento emocional dos estudantes.
