Thereby, this study used the theoretical contributions that are based on the discussions about new ruralities, understood as social representations which would have as the primary issue, according to Carneiro (2008) the role of identifying the place and the meaning these rural categories and urban fill in social relations. From this perspective, the research was conducted in the Ilha de Santana district, located on the right bank of the Amazon River, outside the headquarters of Santana. The study is qualitative, consisting of bibliographic study about the locality and field , as well as participative observation, by lifting socioeconomics data through forms and directed interviews with the locals. Thus was adopted, for the purpose of this work, the method of analyzing the relationship between urban and rural, in this location, such as simultaneous relations, assessing the changes that are expressed in their social and cultural environments. Thus, characteristics of ruralities were found in Ilha de Santana expressed in the point of view of social actors by attributing to the location meanings, and uses of the rural and urban, highlighting the peculiarities of the place, their way of life and their bonds. O presente trabalho visa estabelecer uma incursão no campo da Sociologia Rural. Nesse sentido, esse estudo utiliza-se das contribuições teóricas que têm como base as discussões sobre as novas ruralidades, entendidas como representações sociais que teriam como questão primordial, segundo Carneiro (2008) o papel de identificar o lugar e o significado que essas categorias rurais e urbanas preenchem nas relações sociais. Sob essa perspectiva, a pesquisa foi realizada no distrito Ilha de Santana, localizada à margem direita do Rio Amazonas, em frente à sede do município de Santana. O estudo tem caráter qualitativo, constituído de aprofundamento bibliográfico sobre a localidade e pesquisa de campo, auxiliada pela observação participante, por levantamento de dados socioeconômicos através de formulários e entrevistas dirigidas com os moradores. Dessa forma adotou-se para fins desse trabalho analisar a relação entre o urbano e o rural, presente na localidade, como relações simultâneas, avaliando as mudanças que se expressam em seus ambientes sociais e culturais. Desse modo, constataramse na Ilha de Santana características de ruralidades expressadas na visão dos atores sociais por meio da atribuição à localidade de significados, sentidos e usos do rural e do urbano, realçando as especificidades do lugar, do seu modo de vida e laços de pertencimento. 2022-09-26T14:20:15Z 2022-09-26T14:20:15Z 2015 Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso - Graduação MARINHO, Geane Cardoso; SANTOS, Thaís Mendes.
