Studies indicate that the use of music in the teaching of English can contribute to improving this situation. Thus, this research, through a systematic literature review, aims to analyze how the use of music in the teaching of English in Brazilian basic education is addressed in academic-scientific research. The systematic review was supported by the StArt tool developed by the Software Engineering Research Laboratory (LAPES), at the Federal University of São Carlos. The research corpus consisted of empirical studies that not only addressed the use of music in teaching English in basic education, but also presented the responses observed in the students participating in the studies to the use of this resource. The results showed that the teachers proposed several musical activities, with different objectives, and that there was a concern to observe and reflect on how the students were receiving the activities with music applied in the English classes, but these reflections were not used to guide decisions regarding the following classes. In conclusion, music can be used in English language teaching as an authentic English language teaching material or as a resource to motivate students and improve the classroom environment, contributing to increase their interest in studying the subject. Não é incomum encontrar relatos de alunos desmotivados com as aulas de língua inglesa na educação básica brasileira. Estudos indicam que o uso da música no ensino de inglês pode contribuir para a melhoria desse quadro. Assim, essa pesquisa por meio de uma revisão sistemática da literatura buscou analisar como o uso da música no ensino da língua inglesa na educação básica brasileira é abordado em pesquisas acadêmico-científicas. A revisão sistemática foi apoiada pela ferramenta StArt desenvolvida pelo laboratório de Pesquisa em Engenharia de Software (LAPES), da Universidade Federal de São Carlos. O corpus da pesquisa foi constituído por trabalhos de natureza empírica e que não apenas abordavam o uso da música no ensino da língua inglesa na educação básica, mas os quais apresentavam as respostas observadas nos alunos participantes dos estudos ao uso desse recurso. Os resultados mostraram que os professores propuseram diversas atividades musicais, com diferentes objetivos, e que houve preocupação em observar e refletir sobre como os alunos estavam recebendo as atividades com música aplicadas nas aulas de inglês, porém essas reflexões não foram usadas para nortear decisões relativas às aulas seguintes.
