In this context, the present research study had the general objective of understanding the importance of the existing community-based tourism project in the neighborhood, through the perception of those involved in the project of the tourist potential from the perspective of the population in the neighborhood. For the research, questionnaires were applied, with open questions, in which the respondents exposed their empirical knowledge. It was found that, despite not knowing the technical concepts about this tourism segment, the informants understand its definition by essence and experience. In this scenario, there is an appreciation of the local routine, where tourism is a secondary economic activity, which values and rescues the importance of local ways of life. O turismo de base comunitária é uma modalidade de alternativa ao turismo convencional, como alternativa para das potencialidades e valorização das especificidades locais, por meio da inclusão da comunidade no desenvolvimento do turismo, como geradora de renda e melhoria da qualidade de vida. Nesse contexto, a presente pesquisa estudo teve como objetivo geral entender a importância do projeto de turismo de base comunitária existente no bairro, por meio da percepção dos envolvidos do projeto dos potenciais turísticos a partir do olhar da população no bairro. Para a pesquisa, foram aplicados questionários, com perguntas abertas, nas quais os respondentes expuseram seus conhecimentos empíricos. Verificou-se, que apesar de não conhecerem os conceitos técnicos sobre esse segmento de turismo, os informantes entendem a sua definição por essência e experiencia.
