To reach this proposal a qualitative approach was used, with a bibliographical review on the subject, a field research with a questionnaire application for ten students of the 6th grade and an interview with the geography teacher of Elementary School II. Through this, it was identified that the appropriation of the cartographic language is fundamental for the analysis and comprehension of the geographic space, at the same time it is an instrument of extreme importance for the academic formation of the student, making possible an autonomous, critical and reflexive knowledge about the contradictions of geographical space. The results showed that the students do not have much clarity of the geographical symbology, having as main tool the map, and that the teacher uses the traditional methodology, focusing his work in the didactic book, and using the cartography only as a content and not as a tool. Este artigo analisou a linguagem cartográfica como ferramenta importante na geografia escolar, cujas as questões norteadoras foram : como os discentes do sexto ano da Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Santa Maria, localizada na comunidade Planalto Patos Ituqui em Santarém-PA, compreendem os símbolos e como os docentes desenvolvem as metodologias para mediação da cartografia. Para o alcance dessa proposta utilizou-se abordagem qualitativa com revisão bibliografica sobre o tema, pesquisa de campo com aplicação de questionário destinado a dezdiscentes do 6º ano e entrevista a professora de geografia do Ensino Fundamental II. Por meio desta identificou-se que apropriação da linguagem cartográfia é fundamental para a analise e compreensão do espaço geográfico, ao mesmo tempo é um instrumentos de extrema importância para a formação acadêmica do aluno, possibilitando-o um conhecimento autonômo, crítico e reflexivo acerca das contradições do espaço geográfico. Os resultados demonstraram que os alunos não possuem muita clareza da simbologia geográfica, tendo como principal ferramenta o mapa, e que a docente utiliza da metodologia tradicional, centrando seu trabalho no livro didático, e utilizando a cartografia apenas como um conteúdo e não como ferramenta. 2024-09-18T22:01:51Z 2024-09-18T22:01:51Z 2018 TCC SOARES, Tatiana Castro.
