Mining has followed an increasing trend and maintaining prominence in the global scenario. Brazil produces various mineral substances and among the most produced is the raw material for obtaining aluminum, bauxite. The largest national producer of this mineral is the state of Pará, where there are mines in Juruti, Trombetas and Paragominas cities. Traditionally, bauxite mines follow the strip mining method, which is widely used in open pit mining where ore bodies are tabular and distributed horizontally. This type of mining follows a sequence of operations among which is the stripping of the sterile layer, an activity carried out with the support of D11 crawler dozer and essential to expose the ore strip. Therefore, studying solutions that can improve productivity in this step has great relevance for production process. In this scenario, this work studied the feasibility of replacing blades of D11 dozers, aiming at increasing productivity and profit within a contract period. This study compared the productivities of the blades currently used, SU model, and the proposed blade, CD model, with the help of topographic surveys with scanner, the cost survey of project implementation, a residual contract period of 3 years and performed financial indicators analysis. |
