The major changes that have taken place in the municipality of Juruti over the last few
decades have brought elements that have shaped local agriculture and livestock, both linked to
production itself and the families that make up the rural community of Juruti. However, data
and information about these changes are scattered and difficult to access or even poorly
understood due to the absence of a platform to concentrate this information. Thus, this work
aims to present a series of data from different sources and field research to contribute to the
understanding and analysis of the agricultural sector in Juruti. Bringing data on the organization
of families, developed cultures, technical assistance, levels of education, gender and other
essential factors for the sector in the municipality. Making a comparison with other sectors of
great importance such as industry, services and public administration to understand the size and
importance in the contribution of the GDP of Juruti, also, comparing the agricultural sector of
Juruti with other municipalities in the region. At the end, the results and conditions of the
agriculturalsector are presented, challenges encountered and which strategies can be developed
with a view to contributing to the development of rural Juruti.
