This work aims to verify the production growth in free-range chicken creation, and its viability
in properties that use family labor. The surveyed properties are located in the communities “Vila
Souza”, “Vila Mocambo” and the region of “Bem Longe” in the municipality of Juruti. The
data collected to calculate costs and results were obtained through questionnaires with
producers and data collection with the Municipal Secretariat for Production and Supply -
SEMPRO. The collection and tabulation of data made it possible to verify the increase in
producers and verify the viability of profitability and family support. Considering that in 2020
there were 11,643 farmers registered with SEMPRO and in 2022 that number rose to 12,343
breeders, an increase of approximately 6%, it is worth mentioning that data from the last three
years was only provided. Regarding the profitability of the producing families, it was found
that 100% of the families live from family farming and the raising of free-range chickens is an
important source of income for these families, in addition to being an alternative food for them.
The progress of this activity in the municipality of Juruti was evident, but it still needs both
financial incentives, through funding to creators, as well as in the technical part, as creators still
work in a conventional way, without technical guidance. |
