Writing in the indigenous language and its translation into Portuguese can contribute to the inclusion of indigenous people in new educational environments, such as the university, despite its use being new in indigenous communities and in other environments. Additionally, it can contribute to the appreciation and cultural exchange with this population. The construction of bilingual didactic material is already being demanded, both by indigenous teachers who work in the villages, and professors in the university environment, where indigenous people present great challenges for their inclusion, due to issues of understanding the Portuguese language. This work aimed to contribute in this context, as it presents a collection of words and expressionsin the Wai Wai language and their translation or corresponding termsin Portuguese. It is a descriptive qualitative approach of the ethnographic research type, using field research. All the words or expressions that make up the didactic material were taken from experiences with the elderly, in the family and in the forest (name of animals and plants), in Aldeia Mapuera, Nhamundá Mapuera indigenous land, located in the municipality of Oriximiná, state of For. The result of this research presents terms used in everyday life, cultural terms (handicrafts and medicinal plants) and terms from the academic environment (teaching laboratory, classroom, teaching resources and university library) as well as illustrations and translations of names of body organs human, names that represent the animal and plant biodiversity known and used mainly in food. This work could be continued and organized in the future for use in the construction of a bilingual dictionary in Wai Wai/Portuguese, and could facilitate both the understanding of some terms in Portuguese by the indigenous people (terms from the university environment), as well as help in the teaching process and learning of indigenous students in the teaching of Science and Biology, contributing to the inclusion of these students in an educational environment, including the university..
