Resumo:
The abundant production of health waste in the Brazilian territory has generated and this generated in several direct and indirect problems to human and environmental health such as: perversion of the soil and consequently of the water, anticipation of diseases by vectors, contamination by air droplets and pollution locations. The objective of this research was to identify the inappropriate disposal of medicines and their effects on health and the environment in Brazil. This is an exploratory study that aims to search for information about the improper use of medicines and their disposal in the soil, water and waste, generating impacts on human health and the environment in which the synthesis of studies already published was carried out and that there is a reliable scientific rigor and seek extensive information on the subject. In view of the data collected, the following information was followed: most medicines are discarded erroneously, in inappropriate places, and often without the proper knowledge of the population, which may affect human, environmental and, consequently, animal health. The environmental impacts on health involve essential processes and steps, and for such impacts to be minimized, the pharmacist has skills that favor the conscious disposal, in addition to the rational use of medicines. It was concluded that this study consisted of approaching, relating and synthesizing information on the pharmacist's performance from the perspective of the rational use of medicines and their potential health benefits, in addition to obtaining information that strengthened the collections of science in the northern region of Brazil.
