A long time copaíba OR is recognized and used by traditional communities as a natural resource in the treatment of inflammatory disorders. This study aims to study the associated application of OR copaíba gel with phonophoresis method, since there are few research carried this theme, and nonexistent in relation to the species Copaifera duckei Dwyer. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic action of a herbal gel OR C.duckei administered through the phonophoresis method on the inflammatory phase of the muscle repair process. For this purpose an experimental study with the production of a gel C.duckei 10% and then its administration by phonophoresis on the gastrocnemius muscle subjected to trauma-induced free fall type mechanism was conducted in order to examine its effect on the phase inflammatory muscle recovery process, considering the variables histological analysis, fibrosis, necrosis, edema, and inflammatory infiltrate cells with centralized cores. Further analysis on acute toxicity and repeated dose applications were also performed by using the OECD 404 and OECD 410, protocols and other analysis for pH and the transmissibility of gel in addition to the potential opening of the stratum corneum of the skin as well were realized. The data for this analysis were tabulated in Excell spreadsheet software (Microsoft ® - USA), and later received statistical treatment by BioEstat 5.3 software. For this experimental study was admitted to the 0.05 significance level (α = 0.05 or 5%), to a sampling error of 5% for all analyzes. We conclude that all therapies used showed significant results in the muscle repair process when compared to the control group. FAPESPA - Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado do Pará O ultrassom (US) terapêutico é uma das terapias físicas mais utilizadas na Fisioterapia como recurso eletrotermoterapêutico para o controle do processo inflamatório e aceleração do processo de cicatrização tecidual. Dentre as modalidades de aplicação do US terapêutico temos o método de fonoforese. Ha muito tempo o OR de copaíba é reconhecido e utilizado por comunidades tradicionais como recurso natural no tratamento de afecções inflamatórias. Este estudo procura estudar a aplicação associada do OR de copaíba em gel com o método de fonoforese, visto que ainda são poucas as pesquisas desenvolvidas nessa temática, e inexistentes em relação à espécie Copaifera duckei Dwyer. Assim, esse trabalho teve como objetivo principal avaliar a ação terapêutica de um gel fitoterápico do OR de C.duckei administrado através do método de fonoforese sobre a fase inflamatória do processo de reparação muscular. Para isso foi realizada uma pesquisa experimental com a produção de um gel de C.duckei a 10% e em seguida sua administração por fonoforese sobre o músculo gastrocnêmio submetido a trauma induzido por mecanismo tipo queda livre, a fim de analisar sua ação sobre a fase inflamatória do processo de recuperação muscular, considerando-se as variáveis de análise histológica, fibrose, necrose, edema, infiltrado inflamatório e células com núcleos centralizados. Análises adicionais quanto à toxicidade aguda e em aplicações de doses repetidas também foram realizadas através da utilização dos protocolos OCDE 404 e OCDE 410, e outras análises quanto ao pH e a transmissibilidade do gel, além do potencial de abertura sobre o estrato córneo da pele também foram realizadas. Os dados relativos a estas análises foram tabulados em planilhas do software Excell (Microsoft ® - EUA), e posteriormente receberam tratamento estatístico pelo software BioEstat 5.3. Para este estudo experimental foi admitido o nível de significância de 0,05 (α=0,05 ou 5%), para um erro amostral de 5% em todas as análises.
