Resumo:
The aim of this study is to expose how the United States incorporated firearms into its national identity as a way to manipulate and maintain a social cohesion that not only preserves existing power relations, but also rectifies their position as the biggest global player. To do so, we take into question “how does the Second Amendment influences the cultural sense of the American self?” Bibliographical research is used as methodology to explain the concepts of “culture”, “identity”, “self”, “selfdetermination” and “power politics”; from which the political propaganda carried out in the United States will be analyzed. The theoretical references took into consideration the uniqueness of the American culture in an attempt to better understand the social, religious and political perspectives that this phenomenon entails
