Resumo:
The final stage of Basic Education, High School, is considered the moment in which the student can reflect about his/her identity, the relevance of the school, all his/her experiences in this educational environment, especially those related to his/her formation as a human being, beyond the contents of Physical Education. In addition, it must promote the development of a critical and autonomous attitude to their students when facing life challenges, fostering an emancipatory conduct to the exercise of citizenship. One of the important issues in this formative scenario is to motivate reflections about the body since basic education. For this reason, this research aimed to understand the conception of body of high school students from the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Pará - Campus Santarém, and its relation to the approach of corporeity in Physical Education classes in the Amazon educational context. Therefore, the writing was based on a qualitative approach, based on the corporeity phenomenon, mediated by authors who evoke the theme. About the data production, a sociodemographic questionnaire with twenty-four closed questions and an interview with three questions answered by the students was used. To analyze the data obtained, the Technique of Elaboration and Analysis of Meaning Units was used. Thus, fourteen students answered the sociodemographic questionnaire and eleven of these participated in the interview, all in the age bracket between 15 and 18 years. Indeed, it was found that the understanding of body of the students surveyed vary between the conception of body based on an active being, which relates to itself, with others and its environment producing culture, and the understanding focused on the Cartesian model in which the body-object emerged in the discourse of adolescents, characterized as an aesthetic and machinic spectacle in which perfection and beauty imposed by appearance is admired. As for the conceptions attributed to the body in Physical Education classes, they headed towards an idea of a tired body that degenerates through inactivity, with little reflection of intentional movement, subservient to repetitive motor patterns that aim only at performance and physical conditioning. About the conceptions of body and adolescence, it was identified that the students see themselves in transformations, and for them this is good, glimpsing a sensitive corporeity amidst the changes in their life-world. In summary, it is considered that by unveiling the understanding of body/corporeity, coming from teenagers in high school, it is possible to contribute to the recognition of a human being in its entirety. Consequently, evoking the theme has been relevant so far, due to the scarcity of studies about the body and the corporeity phenomenon in education, school Physical Education and in spaces of human and academic formation in the Amazon region.
