Thus, we have refuted existentanalyzes in the literature that affirm the anomaly of educational research in relation to postgraduate studies and established a concrete framework of its institutionalization in the 1960s, during the period of Military Dictatorship. Taking historical materialism as a theoretical framework, we deduce that the historical process of institutionalization of postgraduate education was effected in relation to the conditions of production and reproduction of the capitalist mode of production in the Brazilian society at a time when the conjunctural reconfiguration of our role in response to hegemonic relations necessitated modernization of the Brazilian society and, therefore, of its own university. Therefore, we defend the thesis that post-graduate education was instituted as an Invented Tradition in accordance with Hobsbawm´s perspective, which is considered a turning point in the 1960s in the history of Brazilian universities. The methodological procedures comprised a bibliographic research, a literature review and a documentary research. The main sources from which data was elicited for this research were legal texts, programs, projects, reports, interviews and newspapers articles. In addition, bibliographic productions were sourced given their relevance to the subject that was critically analyzed through the processes of problematization, analysis and synthesis. Considerando que a pós-graduação é o nível mais elevado de formação do ensino superior brasileiro, que possui características que lhes são próprias e que ainda é pouco discutida no campo da história da educação, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo geral compreender criticamente a história da pós-graduação no interior da universidade brasileira; apreendendo-a como objeto historiográfico; refutando análises presentes na literatura, que afirmam a anomalia da pesquisa educacional em sua relação com a pós-graduação e estabelecendo os marcos concretos de sua instituição na década de 1960, em pleno período da Ditadura Militar. Tendo o materialismo histórico como referencial teórico, compreendemos que o processo histórico de instituição da pós-graduação se efetivou nas condições de produção e reprodução do modo de produção capitalista na sociedade brasileira num momento em que a reconfiguração conjuntural de nosso papel no interior das relações hegemônicas do mesmo necessitava de uma modernização da sociedade brasileira e, portanto, de sua própria universidade; dessa forma defendemos a tese que a pós-graduação instituiu-se como uma Tradição Inventada, conforme a perspectiva de Hobsbawm, se constituindo como ponto de inflexão na década de 1960 na história da universidade brasileira. Os procedimentos metodológicos utilizados foram a pesquisa bibliográfica, revisão da literatura e a pesquisa documental; as fontes primárias da pesquisa desta tese se constituíram de textos legais, programas, projetos, relatórios, entrevistas e jornais. Tivemos ainda, como fontes secundárias, a produção bibliográfica pertinente ao tema que foi analisada criticamente pelos processos de problematização, análise e síntese. Vu que la POS-GRADUAÇÃO c’est le niveau le plus élevé de la formation de l’enseignement supérieur brésilien, que ce niveau présente des caractéristiqies particulières, que celle-là est encore peu analysée dans le cadre de l’histoire de l’éducation, l’objectif de ce travail c’est de compreendre, sous un point de vue critique, l’histoire de la POS-GRADUAÇÃO dans l’université brésilienne. Elle sera analysée en tant qu’objet historiografique, tout en refutant des analyses présentées dans la literature affirmant l’anomalie de la recherche en éducation dans son rapport avec la POS-GRADUAÇÃO, et en fixant les repères concrets de sa mise en place institutionnelle dans les années 1960, lors de la période de la Dictature Militaire. En nous appuyant sur le matérialisme historique comme repère théorique, nous comprenons que le processus historique de la mise en place institutionnelle de la POS-GRADUAÇÃO s’est réalisée dans des conditions de production et de reproduction du mode de production capitaliste dans la societé brésilienne, lorsque la réconfiguration du cadre de notre rôle dans ses rapports hegemoniques demandait une modernisation de la societé brésilienne, et donc, de sa propre université. Dans ce sens, nous soutenons la thèse selon laquelle la POS-GRADUAÇÃO s’est établie comme une Tradiction Inventée, d’après la perspective de Hobsbawn, et s’est constituée en tant que point d’inflexion dans les années 1960 dans l’histoire de l’université brésilienne. Comme procédures méthodologiques, nous avons utilisé la recherche bibliografique, la révision de la littérature ainsi que la recherche des documents. En tant que sources primaires, nous avons également utilisé des textes légaux, des programmes, des projets, des rapports, des interviews et des journaux, ainsi que des sources bibliographiques pertinentes au sujet de la thèse qui ont été analysées sous un point de vue critique par le biais des processus d’analyse et de synthèse.
