It uses data analysis, french line discourse analysis and contributions of bibliometrics, constituting a qualitative-quantitative study. The results indicate that the theme is current and of interest to Federal University of Pará in several areas of knowledge. They also verify that the local discussions on the theme follow the context of the national and international approaches, yet have their own characteristics related to the location where the institution is located, the Amazon region. Finally, conclude that the analysis of the scientific production of an institution shows promise for the understanding of how certain topics have been approached, in this case, the traditional knowledge. É uma pesquisa que investiga a produção científica da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) sobre conhecimentos tradicionais, a partir das teses e dissertações disponíveis no Banco de Teses da Capes, a fim de verificar como o tema tem sido abordado na instituição. Utiliza para a análise dos dados, a análise do discurso de linha francesa e aportes da bibliometria, constituindo-se num estudo quali-quantitativo. Os resultados indicam que o tema é atual e de interesse para a UFPA, em diversas áreas do conhecimento. Verificam também que as discussões locais sobre a temática acompanham o contexto das abordagens nacional e internacional, contudo tendo características próprias relacionadas à localização onde a instituição está inserida, a região amazônica. Finalmente, concluem que a análise da produção científica de uma instituição se mostra promissora para a compreensão de como determinados temas têm sido abordados, neste caso, os conhecimentos tradicionais.
