For this, were stipulated specific objectives that correspond to the two constituent articles of the dissertation. The first proposes a systematic literature review, aiming to map the dissertations and theses on maternal stress and child development, available on the website of Higher Education Staff Improvement Coordination (Capes). The second paper is an empirical study that investigated the association between levels of maternal stress and development of children 1-42 months are the two groups, living in riverine and urban context of the city of Belém do Pará. As a result it was possible to identify the variables and the relationships between them that influence the level of stress of mothers and the status of children's development, culminating in the construction of a knowledge network that could allow understanding of these processes. It is understood that the dyad of these situations are exposed to multiple risk factors for incidence of developmental delays and rising levels of maternal stress, especially by low socioeconomic status observed. Social and economic risk factors cumulative are considered more adverse than isolated events, so the multiplier effect, in which a factor aggravating the other, form a network of negative factors both in intensity and in chronicity. CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Este trabalho teve por objetivo investigar a relação entre níveis de estresse materno e desenvolvimento infantil. Para isto, foram estabelecidos objetivos específicos que correspondem aos três artigos constituintes da dissertação. O primeiro propõe uma revisão sistemática da literatura, objetivando mapear artigos científicos que trataram do tema Estresse materno e desenvolvimento infantil, disponível no portal da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes). O segundo artigo consiste em um estudo empírico que teve por objetivoinvestigar características sóciodemográficas e caracterizar o desenvolvimento neuropsicomotorde crianças urbanas e ribeirinhas de Belém – Pará. O terceiro artigo é um estudo empírico que buscou investigar a associação entre níveis de estresse materno e desenvolvimento de crianças de 1 a 42 meses pertencentes a dois grupos, moradoras em contexto ribeirinho e urbano do município de Belém- Pará. Como resultado foi possível identificar as variáveis e as relações entre elas que têm influência sobre o nível de estresse das mães e o status do desenvolvimento das crianças, culminando na construção de uma rede de conhecimento que pode permitir a compreensão desses processos. Identificou-se que as díades de ambos os contextos estão expostas a múltiplos fatores de risco para prevalência de atrasos no desenvolvimento e elevação dos níveis de estresse materno, especialmente pelo baixo nível socioeconômico observado. Observou-se maior prevalência de elevados níveis de estresse materno e atrasos no desenvolvimento infantil em contexto ribeirinho, assim como associação entre tais desfechos e características das famílias, como idade, escolaridade e ocupação materna, numero de irmãos, renda, entre outros.
