This dissertation aimed to characterize the patterns of disclosure and discovery of sexual
abuse in different national contexts and evaluate the maternal support of children and
adolescents victims. The dissertation was divided into two empirical papers, one quantitative
and the another qualitative. The first article discusses the characterization of patterns of
disclosure/discovery by analyzing records of sexual abuse from two brazilian states,
investigating the association between these patterns and individual and relational factors. The
second article presents the characterization of maternal support, based on data from semistructured interviews implemented with five mothers of children and adolescents victims of
sexual abuse in a city of Pará-Brazil. |
