This paper aims to examine the gender approach in socioassistenciais services offered
by the Centro de Referência de Assistência Social (CRAS) of the municipality of
Salinópolis-PA, sought to identify the possible contributions of this service for women
users, since they are the main demandatárias of this policy. To achieve this goal of
qualitative research was bringing the voice of users collected through semi-structured
interview, the method of analysis of this dissertation is oriented under the light of
dialectical and historical materialism, which enabled a broad analysis of reality. Thus
it was observed that despite the CRAS have potential to contribute significantly to
improving the participation of women in public spaces, particularly the poorest, this
potentiality is sterilized by the absence of emancipative content, which leads to the
conclusion that genre is a category not yet worked on welfare policy, especially in the
CRAS of Salinas.
