In this perspective, it is understood that the memory studies in education, with the contributions of some authors of Social Psychology - Ecléa Bosi (1994, 2003), Maurice Halbwachs (1993), help to elucidate the understanding of educational phenomena, the concerns and challenges that have mobilized in contemporary researchers and teachers. It is understood that look to be relevant about the past, given that this encounter with the historicity of education provides fruitful ways to produce new knowledge that can be invested in the educational practices of our time. O presente artigo propõe-se a discutir a questão da memória individual e coletiva e os enlaces desta com a educação. O referencial teórico-metodológico está assentado nos estudos de Ecléa Bosi (1994; 2003) sobre memória e na teoria sobre memória social de Maurice Halbwachs (1993). Segundo os referidos autores, os processos memorativos são relacionados a campos de significação na vida do sujeito que recorda. Nesta perspectiva, entende-se que os estudos de memória em educação, com o aporte de alguns autores da Psicologia Social - Ecléa Bosi (1994; 2003); Maurice Halbwachs (1993), ajudam a elucidar a compreensão dos fenômenos educativos, das inquietações e dos desafios que na contemporaneidade têm mobilizado pesquisadores e professores. Entende-se ser relevante esse olhar sobre o passado, uma vez que esse encontro com a historicidade da educação possibilita fecundas formas de produzir novos saberes que possam ser investidos nas práticas educativas de nosso tempo.
