We start from the following guiding questions: how does the passage from modern ordered knowledge to complex organized knowledge occur and how does this knowledge culminate in a conception of humanism? The hypothesis we defend is that Morin's principles of complexity are exposed as a critical dialogue about the limitations of the modern method, pointing out how the last one has an ambivalent impact on science and society under the name of degenerate humanism and a regenerated humanism. Methodologically, we discuss, firstly, the conception of science and method in modernity, starting with the arguments that precede and formulate the organization of a quantitative method of knowledge, having as a central axis the contributions of Descartes in his main works (1952). The second part of the text turns to the conception of science and method according to the contributions of the epistemology of complexity, proposed by Edgar Morin (1996, 2011, 2015, 2016), where we present the main intelligibilities of his theory: the dialogic principle, the recursive principle, the hologrammatic principle. In the third and last part of the text, we compare complex thinking and modernity based on the concept of humanism. Initially, we expose the reading of modernity by complexity, highlighting the category of rationalization. Then, we explain how the modern method has repercussions in contemporary times with the advent of the action ecology. Finally, we present a reconstruction of an alternative method and knowledge, capable of dealing with uncertainties, culminating in the proposal of a regeneration of humanism. CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Nosso objetivo, no presente trabalho, dedica-se a demonstrar os principais elementos epistemológicos da complexidade elaborado por Edgar Morin em contraste geral com os princípios do método moderno de Descartes. Partimos das seguintes questões norteadoras: como ocorre a passagem do conhecimento ordenado moderno para o conhecimento organizado complexo e de que maneira esses conhecimentos culminam em uma concepção de humanismo? A hipótese que defendemos é que os princípios da complexidade de Morin são expostos como um diálogo crítico sobre as limitações do método moderno, apontando de que modo este último repercute de forma ambivalente na ciência e na sociedade a título de um humanismo degenerado e de um humanismo regenerado. Metodologicamente, dissertamos, em primeiro lugar, sobre a concepção da ciência e do método na modernidade, iniciando pelos argumentos que precedem e formulam a organização de um método quantitativo do conhecimento, tendo como eixo central as contribuições de Descartes em suas principais obras (1952). A segunda parte do texto volta-se para a concepção de ciência e método segundo as contribuições da epistemologia da complexidade, proposta por Edgar Morin (1996, 2011, 2015, 2016), onde apresentamos as principais inteligibilidades da sua teoria: o princípio dialógico, o princípio recursivo, o princípio hologramático. Na terceira e última parte do texto, fazemos o cotejo entre o pensamento complexo e a modernidade tomando por base o conceito do humanismo. Inicialmente, expomos a leitura da modernidade pela complexidade, destacando a categoria de racionalização. Em seguida, explanamos o modo como método moderno repercute na contemporaneidade com o advento da ecologia da ação. Por último, apresentamos uma reconstrução de um método e de um conhecimento alternativo, capaz de lidar com as incertezas culminando com a proposta de uma regeneração o humanismo.
