We believe that the serial killer allegorizes the historical condition of the contemporary personality through an evocation of the social dynamics of serial consumption, one generalized social practice in contemporary society and through which social status and identity are resignified and typified. O artigo discute, partir do seriado televisivo Dexter, o papel da figura do serial killer na cultura pós moderna. O seriado, que narra a história de um serial killer cuja psicopatia consiste em matar serial killers, produz uma reflexividade a respeito da condição identitária do sujeito contemporâneo. Acredita-se que o serial killer alegoriza a condição histórica desse sujeito, por meio de uma evocação da dinâmica social do consumo em série, prática social generalizada na contemporaneidade e por meio da qual a condição social da identidade é resignificada e tipificada.
