It is also intended that the student himself is able to identify and interpret, in his living spaces, elements (material and immaterial) that, in his view of the world, are characterized as heritage. The research and its practical application with the students took place both in the municipality of Vigia-PA, where I reside and develop part of my professional activities as a history teacher, more specifically at the Santa Rosa State Elementary and High School, located in the same village. The name, which, being located in the rural area and receiving students from adjacent communities, allowed the focus of the work to be directed not only to the urban area, but mainly to the rural environment of the city. It should be noted that the municipality has an institutionalized cultural heritage with which, however, our students seem to have little identification, a fact that motivated the development of this work. As a product of the research carried out, didactic support material was developed, intended for use in classes on cultural heritage. O presente trabalho apresenta uma proposta de uso dos conceitos e abordagens de pesquisa e reflexão sobre história local e patrimônio histórico e cultural em sala de aula, objetivando criar nos alunos de ensino fundamental e médio uma consciência histórica acerca da relação do patrimônio – institucionalizado ou não – com as suas vivências enquanto sujeitos históricos, além de desenvolver nesses jovens um autorreconhecimento na história e uma orientação para a vida prática de Vigia e de suas comunidades. Também se pretende que o próprio discente seja capaz de identificar e interpretar, nos seus espaços de convivência, elementos (materiais e imateriais) que, em sua visão de mundo, caracterizem-se como patrimônio. A pesquisa e sua aplicação prática com os alunos ocorreram ambas no município de Vigia-PA, onde resido e desenvolvo parte de minhas atividades profissionais como professor de história, mais especificamente na Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Médio Santa Rosa, localizada na vila de mesmo nome, que por estar localizada na zona rural e receber estudantes oriundos das comunidades adjacentes, permitiu que o foco do trabalho fosse direcionado não apenas para a área urbana, mas principalmente para o meio rural da cidade. Ressalte-se que o referido município tem um patrimônio cultural institucionalizado com o qual, no entanto, nossos alunos parecem ter pouca identificação, fato que motivou o desenvolvimento deste trabalho.
