The importance of this study resides in the need to understand the impact of educational institutions, such as IFAP, in promoting socioeconomic development and improving the quality of life of local communities. The study methodology involved quantitative and qualitative analyses, using secondary data, bibliographical research and questionnaires. Information sources included socioeconomic, educational, and demographic indices. The research compared the FIRJAN Index of Macapá and Laranjal do Jari before and after the implementation of the IFAP. Thus, it was possible to achieve the objective of the work, which was to analyze the contribution of IFAP in the local development of Macapá and Laranjal do Jari, proposing an integrative extension project. The results showed a significant increase in the Firjan Index in both cities, being higher in Laranjal do Jari (16.3%) compared to Macapá (5.1%). In addition, the survey revealed improvements in local infrastructure. The community values IFAP for providing job opportunities, professional training and integral development. The study concludes that the implementation of the IFAP campuses contributed to the local development of the municipalities of Amapá, confirming the objective of the research. This work hopes to encourage new research and debates on the importance of Professional and Technological Education. In addition, it is expected that this study will contribute to the expansion and improvement of public policies aimed at the integration between academic training and the labor market, promoting an emancipatory teaching and learning process that benefits local communities. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o papel do Instituto Federal de Educação do Amapá (IFAP) no desenvolvimento local dos municípios de Macapá e Laranjal do Jari, quanto aos aspectos educacionais, econômicos e sociais, baseando-se na teoria do desenvolvimento local endógeno. A importância deste estudo reside na necessidade de compreender o impacto das instituições educacionais, como o IFAP, na promoção do desenvolvimento socioeconômico e na melhoria da qualidade de vida das comunidades locais. A metodologia do estudo envolveu análises quantitativas e qualitativas, utilizou dados secundários, pesquisa bibliográfica e questionários. As fontes de informação incluíram índices socioeconômicos, educacionais e demográficos. A pesquisa comparou o Índice FIRJAN (Federação das indústrias do Rio de Janeiro) de Macapá e Laranjal do Jari antes e após a implantação do IFAP. Assim, foi possível alcançar o objetivo do trabalho que era o de analisar a contribuição do IFAP no desenvolvimento local de Macapá e Laranjal do Jari, e propor um projeto de extensão integrador. Os resultados mostraram um aumento significativo no Índice Firjan em ambas as cidades, sendo maior em Laranjal do Jari (16,3%) em comparação a Macapá (5,1%). Além disso, a pesquisa revelou melhorias na infraestrutura local. A comunidade valoriza o IFAP por proporcionar oportunidades de emprego, formação profissional e desenvolvimento integral. O estudo conclui que a implantação dos Campi do IFAP contribuíram para o desenvolvimento local dos municípios amapaenses, confirmando a contribuição objetivo da pesquisa. Este trabalho buscou incentivar novas pesquisas e debates sobre a importância da Educação Profissional e Tecnológica. Além disso, espera-se que este estudo contribua para a ampliação e o aprimoramento de políticas públicas voltadas para a integração entre formação acadêmica e mercado de trabalho, que promova um processo de ensino e aprendizagem emancipativo que beneficie as comunidades locais.
