Resumo:
The present work focuses on the study of the use of mathematical knowledge in the Age of Exploration, specifically the angular measurements used for celestial navigation. The aim is to address the concept of angular units and their measurement systems, as well as their historical context, through the use of measurement instruments such as protractors and theodolites. The goal is to provide a contextualized understanding of angles, their measurements, and applications, by incorporating the history of mathematics into teaching. As an educational product, a supplementary textbook has been developed that explores the concept of angular units and their measurements within the context of maritime exploration, linking them to other teaching and learning elements such as coordinates on a grid.
