This distinction is essential to understand aviation, our object of study. The thesis presents an alternative way of viewing the economic system of the colonial Amazon: instead of emphasizing the market system or its elements, we adopt redistribution as an institution that dominantly promotes the circulation of society's means of subsistence. This redistributive economy emanates from the State's ability to receive (taxes) and distribute (payer), in a monetary system without coined currency, which uses genres (means of subsistence) as money. This way of interpreting the economy was only possible through the use of Polanyi and Veblen's institutionalist theory, which helped us to define the objective of the thesis in understanding how the economic and social structures of the colonial Amazon, that is, forms of economic integration (FIE), support institutions and organizational structure of society, were decisive in the emergence, growth and persistence of aviation as a financial institution. In this sense, relief is an adapted and coherent manifestation of the financial demands of the redistributive economy, that is, where credit (and the flows of financial resources) are carried out in kind and debt comes from non-economic obligations – which During this period, it uncouples it from market-oriented motivations. Throughout the colonial period, aviation presented several institutional variations, which are in line with the change in the social and economic structure (we highlight the Missions Regiment and the Pombaline reforms), as we defend in our working hypothesis. Among the main variations that we present as a result of the causal and cumulative, therefore, evolutionary process, we highlight commercial aviation, state redistributive aviation and commercial redistributive aviation. To explain these variations in more detailed Darwinian terms, we chose to outline the evolutionary process for the movement of some important resources, such as captives (rescue troops) and drugs from the backlands, facilitating the work of protected Indians (state redistribution) and families caboclas in constitution (mercantile redistribution). Thus, the layout is dynamic and diverse, resulting from its interdependence with the structure in constant transformation. A economia e o mercado não são sinônimos. Essa distinção é essencial para compreendermos o aviamento – nosso objeto de estudo. A tese apresenta uma maneira alternativa de visualizar o sistema econômico da Amazônia colonial: ao invés da ênfase no sistema de mercado ou de seus elementos, adotamos a redistribuição como instituição que promove, de forma dominante, a circulação dos meios de subsistência da sociedade. Essa economia redistributiva emana da capacidade do Estado de receber (tributos) e de distribuir (pagante), em um sistema monetário sem moeda cunhada, que utiliza os gêneros (meios de subsistência) como dinheiro. Essa forma de interpretar a economia só foi possível pelo uso da teoria institucionalista de Polanyi e Veblen, que nos auxiliou a delimitar o objetivo da tese em compreender como as estruturas econômicas e sociais da Amazônia colonial, ou seja, formas de integração econômicas (FIEs), instituições de apoio e estrutura de organização da sociedade foram determinantes na emergência, crescimento e persistência do aviamento como instituição financeira. Nesse sentido, o aviamento, é uma manifestação adaptada e coerente às demandas financeiras da economia redistributiva, ou seja, onde o crédito (e os fluxos dos recursos financeiros) é realizado em gêneros e a dívida é proveniente de obrigações não-econômicas – o que o desatrela, nesse período, das motivações orientadas pelo mercado. Ao longo do período colonial, o aviamento apresentou diversas variações institucionais, que se coadunam com a mudança da estrutura social e econômica (destacamos o Regimento das Missões e as reformas Pombalinas), conforme defendemos em nossa hipótese de trabalho. Dentre as principais variações que apresentamos como resultado do processo causal e cumulativo, logo, evolucionário, destacamos o aviamento comercial, o aviamento redistributivo estatal e o aviamento redistributivo mercantil. Para explicar essas variações, em termos darwinianos mais detalhados, escolhemos delinear o processo evolucionário para o movimento de alguns recursos importantes, como o de cativos (tropas de resgate) e drogas do sertão, aviando o trabalho dos indígenas tutelados (redistributivo estatal) e das famílias caboclas em constituição (redistributivo mercantil). Assim, o aviamento é dinâmico e diverso, sendo resultado da sua interdependência com a estrutura em constante transformação.
