Aiming to analyze women’s participation and appreciation in those activities. For this, we have chosen two categories for analysis: traditional community and the work’s sexual division. Presenting the productive chain of Mitilídeo Mytella charruana. With Own resources, we followed the qualitative method presenting ten families that selected because they used to organize the mollusk’s extraction activities in the same area. As an methodological instrument the snow ball technique, to identify the leaders and the formation of the sample group; the interview ,the questionnaire and the informal talk, the participative observation, and picture registers.The investigation resulted in the following of identification of men and women in the productive chain: the collection data, the extraction process and the Mytella charruana’s commercialization. Concluding that from the moment it started to be introduced and sold in market, men became responsible for the collection, and responsible for the first and final step of the mollusk extraction. And that women are responsible for the space prepping to the products’ arriving after the extraction of it, the cleaning of each product, the rescues’ collect process after selection, of the review process of extraction of each shell to extract possible content of mass, adding to daily domestic activities. Whereas women’s work, the strict hygienic treatment of Mytella charuana, is considered the big deal when dealing with regional costumers, the valorization goes to man. The investigation also showed the excessive exploration of the natural resources that need normatization and extra hand careful dealing with it, to avoid damages in the environment. O estudo da divisão sexual do trabalho na cadeia produtiva do mexilhão Mytella charruana em Vila Nova, Bragança – PA foi desenvolvido no período de julho de 2013 a fevereiro de 2014 a janeiro de 2014, com o principal objetivo de analisar a participação e a valorização da mulher nas atividades desse processo. Para tal optou-se por duas categorias de análise: comunidade tradicional e divisão sexual do trabalho, tendo como fundo a cadeia produtiva do mexilhão Mytella charruana. A pesquisa seguiu os princípios do método qualitativo, tendo como amostra dez famílias, que foram selecionadas em função de organizarem as atividades de extração do molusco num mesmo local. Usou-se como instrumento metodológico a técnica efeito bola de neve, para identificação das lideranças e formação do grupo amostral; a entrevista, o questionário, a conversa informal, a observação participativa, além de registros fotográficos. A investigação resultou na identificação do trabalho da mulher e do homem na cadeia produtiva: coleta, catação e comercialização do mexilhão Mytella charruana, concluindo-se que a partir do momento que o produto começou a ser inserido no mercado, o homem ficou responsável pela coleta, pela fase inicial e final da catação e pela comercialização do molusco, cabendo a mulher o preparo do espaço para o recebimento do produto após a coleta, a limpeza de cada molusco, a catação de resíduos depois da primeira peneiragem, da organização da catação revisada de cada concha para retirada de possível massa retida, somando às atividades domésticas cotidianas. Embora o trabalho da mulher, a higienização rigorosa no trato do mexilhão seja considerado o diferencial para a preferência dos compradores da região, a maior valorização é dado ao trabalho do homem, considerado o mantenedor da casa. Foram avaliadas as diferenças no comprimento da concha de M. charruana entre os meses estudados, onde houve diferenças significativas entre janeiro e fevereiro (p < 0,05).
