The deployment of large enterprises in the Amazon has led to numerous environmental and social impacts in the municipalities that host them. However, the sustainable development concept has been helping with scientific bases ally the economic, social, institutional and environmental dimensions in the quest to meet the expectations of society, the development of instruments for measuring the degree of sustainable development. Thus, we sought through the use of the tool for measuring sustainability, the Barometer of Sustainability, assessing sustainability in the municipality of Tucuruı. This study was characterized as bibliographic and documentary research complemented with data collection in the field relative to water quality in the urban core Tucuruı. Using as reference the data relating to Para municipalities and environmental quality parameters (CONAMA Resolution 357/2005), the results indicate that Tucuruı is in a similar situation to Brazil, as other authors have shown, with the human dimension of sustainability indicating the need for government actions to improve indicators related to education and health. Additionally, the environmental dimension also requires investment and initiative to improve the indicators related to environmental sanitation (removal and proper disposal of household wastewater, collection and proper disposal of garbage) and restoration of vegetation cover. |
